USSSA Around The Clock Madness

CARSON CITY, NV - The Midnight Madness tournament, hosted by A thru Z Softball, was a huge hit over the Memorial Day weekend for the third time running. Coupled with lots of extra contests including a homerun contest, a long throw contest, an accuracy contest and an accuracy-pitching contest, 65 teams flocked to this novel tournament, up from 55 last year.

In the Men's E division, Just Bangin from Watsonville, CA went 6-0 to take the tournament, beating out Team Stix from Yuba City, CA. Third place went to Budlight from San Jose, CA, with Full Throttle from Manteca, CA and The Rooks & Cue & Cushion rounding out the results.

Nevada Fitness from Minden, NV dominated the women's division, going 4-0 to take the title. Legendz from Sacramento, CA took second with Airraid from Reno, NV and Hand Picked taking third and fourth.

The Men's D division was controlled by the out of state team I.S.G from Nampa, ID, who had an impressive 5-0 record for the weekend. Gary's Carpet from Caldwell, ID took the second place slot, followed by A-1 Towing from Elk Grove, CA, Minden Aircraft Repair, Minden NV and Redrum & Aftermath tying the fifth place spot.

Third Out from Pleasanton, CA won the Coed division with an impressive 5-0 record. Second place went to Wavenet, from Central Point, OR and third place was tackled by Insane from Milpitas, CA. McDuffy's Tavern from Minden, NV took fourth.

In the men's homerun contest, Mark Mendenhall from Team Buck Lewis in Sacramento, CA and Chad Kendall, Team D-12 from Reno NV, hit 6 out of 10 pitches to be crowned co-champs. In the women's division, Kathleen Niemeyer with Team Incognitos in San Mateo, CA and Sylvia Lopez from Team Get Spanked in Modesto CA tied with 3 homeruns each. In the long throw, there was a three-way tie for first, with Eric Storm from Team Maddogs in San Lorenzo CA, Zack Deboi of Team ISG in Nampa ID and Aaron Bible from Stockton CA sharing the championship title. Each player threw over 300 feet. The accuracy-throwing contest produced a single dominating force with Keith Corbin from Team Full Throttle in Manteca, CA winning hands-down. Kris Kaufman with Team Frozen Rope from Carson City NV took second and Chris Pentacossi from Sacramento CA took third. Pitching accuracy honors went to Mike White fro Team Maddogs in Fremont CA, with Phil Lewis from Team Hardway in Carson City NV taking second. Third place went to Chad Watson from Minden Aircraft Repair.
