RICHLAND, WA – Sixteen teams from all over Washington turned out to compete for the NSA E Championship in a tournament held at Horn Rapids Park in Richland, Washington. The Ripple came out on top with a perfect 5-0 record to win the title. They started their championship run on Saturday by winning their first three games against Porterhouse Casino 11-7, Two Bits & Bite 8-7 and Diablos 6-0. With three straight wins the Ripple players were feeling good but realized they still needed one more win in Sunday’s winner’s bracket final to reach the championship game. Their opponent in the winner’s bracket final was Beernuts, who had won their first three games pretty easily. beating Kaos 12-2, Select Builders 10-4 and Atomic Dogs 15-4. In the winner’s bracket final the lead changed hands numerous times but the Ripple players got the hits when they needed and came out with a 12-8 win and advanced to the championship game. With the loss Beernuts dropped to the loser’s bracket and needed to win their game to get another chance at the Ripple in the title game. Beernuts ended up facing Diablos and took out their frustrations on them by winning 17-10 to earn the chance to play for the state championship. Both teams had played great ball all weekend and it continued in the title game. The Ripple took an early lead but Beernuts came back to even the score. Players from both teams were getting tired but the Ripple players had a little more energy and took the lead for good and never looked back, winning their first State Championship by a score of 9-5. Beernuts finished with a 4-2 record and Diablos came in third with a 4-2 record.
