REDDING, CA - The 5th Annual Winter Warm Up Tournament was held Jan. 21-22 at the Big League Complex in Redding, CA. Hosted by AthruZ, teams in seven divisions competed for top honors.
In Sunday’s D division Last Call from Fairfield, CA defeated Cache Canyon by a score of 18-12. The final game went back and forth until the fifth inning when the Last Call squad took the lead for good, helped in part by Tommy Nicholes who hit a gapper which cleared the bases.
With four teams entered, the tournament was a round robin format into a single elimination bracket. Last Call went 4-0 in pool play and finished the weekend with a 9-1 record.
Two MVP awards went to Joe Pearson and Brian Engell from Last Call. "Brian played really good defense at shortstop and Joe crushed the ball for us all weekend," said coach Scott Bradley.
Finishing in third place was FBH Softball.
In the Men’s E division, also played on Sunday, Foreclosure captured first over Red Heat.
In C action on Saturday Team Gold/Miken downed the Yard Sharks/Easton for the top spot.
Team Polo were the winner’s of the Saturday’s Men’s D division. Middles Open finished second.
Distributors downed Darkside to win the Men’s E division. The West Coast Ballers captured third place.
In theWomen’s division, Scandalous defeated Nor Cal Stix in the final game. The Yard Sharks took third.
The Coed division saw Low Down defeat Gumbas Softball Club with HBI rounding out the top three.
