Henderson Hosts A&V 2005 World Tournament

HENDERSON, NV - A&V Softball Tournaments held it's annual World Tournament at the Arroyo Grande Sports Park and Russell Road Park in Henderson, Nevada on November 5-6, 2005. Champions were crowned in five men's divisions: "D", "E", "E-Novice", "Rec-Upper" and "Rec-Lower" and one Coed division.

"This has become an annual end of the year tournament for us," says A&V Owner Al Acosta. "This year 70 teams played their hearts over the weekend. They all seem to really have a great time out here especially in Las Vegas! The parks are not that far from the Strip, so the teams not only get to play some softball, they also get to play in Vegas!! So you see there are really no losers!! Play Softball and have a great time in Vegas!!"

In the Men's D division MVP Brandon Hernandez helped Wongs, from Saugus, CA capture the first place award. Teammates Mark Cranle, Lonnie Coughlin, Fernando Mercado and J.C. Sepulveda also turned in strong performances and were named to the all-tournament team.

Four 3N2 players earned all-tournament honors while helping their team to a second place finish. Representing 3N2, from Arcadia, CA, on the all-tournament team were Preston Person, Elli Aguilar, Rebel Smith and Ricky Salazar.

Finishing in third place were the Lucky 7 Choppers from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Their all-tournament selections were Josh McMillan, Kenyon Humphrey and Jerry Boyd. Rounding out the top four teams was Old School from Temecula, CA with Jason Clemens and Marty Litteral named to the all-tournament squad.

Ruthless from Pomona, CA earned top honors in the Men's E division. Ruthless defeated Work Deez from Palmdale, CA for the number one spot. Sy Morales from Ruthless was given the MVP award while Jimmy Maldonado, Junior Serrano, Robbie Santana and Raul Guzman were named all-tournament. Work Deez placed Gary White, Raul Diaz, Jason Brennam and Garrett Riese on the select squad.

Third place in the E division went to the Fat Kids of Bellflower, CA who gave their all-tournament awards to Stuey Lopez, Aaron Martinez and Yames Marcotte. J.C. Mckee and Dave Palluzi were named to the all-tournament team for the fourth place H8ers from Ontario, CA.
