Cold Onez win A&V/Worth ‘Bash 4 Cash' Finals

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA - Quakes Stadium was the site for the men's ‘REC' division A&V/Worth Bash 4 Cash finals. Twenty-one teams competed to try and win one of the top four award packages given out by A&V Softball Tournaments and Worth.
Cold Onez from San Bernardino, CA went 5-0 in the tournament to win the top prize of $1500.00 dollars and Worth Wicked bat bags. Cold Onez played excellent softball all day long, not trailing in any game. Head coach Ben Contreras said, "We played great ball all day, we got the hits at the right time, we made the plays that needed to be made at the right time, it just seemed to come together for us all day long!" Contreras added, "The team has been gearing up for this tournament_we've been playing with A&V since 2004 and I will tell you that Al Acosta is one really honest director. He not only runs tournaments that are fair, well organized and run on time, but he seems to really know about softball and players. It's nice to go to a tournament with my team and know we will be treated fair and have a chance as well as the other teams to win the tournament."
Cold Onez started the day in the second round due the their accrued point total to date. They beat Hard Luck 20-8, then they defeated Come Caca 17-7. Their third game saw them battle a real up and coming squad What The Crap 13-8. Now 3-0, they put it all together and pounded out a 17-3 win over All In.
In the championship tilt Cold Onez once again played All In and won 15-5 to record a perfect 5-0 record and take home the championship hardware.
Ben Contreras, of Cold Onez, batted .850 and was named the tournaments MVP. Also named on the all tournament team for Cold Onez were Bobby Castaneda, Mike Whitson, Eric Aceves and Jeremy Baca.
All In (El Monte, CA) finished 5-2 with its two losses coming to Cold Onez. All In took 2nd place and $1000,00 dollars and Worth Wicked hats.
Coach Eddie Saldana was pleased at his teams performance, "We didn't play that bad today, we just fell apart against Cold Onez. We lost to a really good team today, we'll get over this and be ready to compete for other A&V Major tournaments that are coming up, who knows maybe we will put it all together and win those A&V Rings in August!"
Making all tournament for All In were Jason Tello, Joey Ortiez, Mike Avena and Fernando Calderon.
Come Caca from Fontana, CA went 6-2 to take 3rd place and won custom made long sleeve shirts.
Named to the all tournament team from Come Caca were family members Chente Granados, Tommy Granados, Mario Granados and Michael Galvin.
Hartzel Dentistry from Santa Clarita, CA took the 4th place spot going 4-2 and winning Worth Wicked T-Shirts.
Named to the all tournament team were Ray Samudio, Bobby Riley and Shawn Aleshire.
A&V tournament director Al Acosta had this to say, "Thanks to all the teams who played and a very special thanks to Worth for sponsoring the tournament with Worth product prizes. This was the second year for the Bash 4 Cash series... I know in 2006 more money will be given out for first and second place with 3rd place also winning money."
